The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 97(3), 105 and 108(1)1 of the Road Traffic Act 19882 and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 195(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:

These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (No. 6) Regulations 1990 and shall come into force for the purposes of regulation 2 on 1st January 1991 and for all other purposes on 1st April 1991.

Regulations 3(c) and 5(b) of the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) Regulations 19903 are hereby revoked.

The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations 19874 shall be amended–
a
in regulation 3(1) (interpretation), in the definition of “licence”, by the insertion after the word “Act” of the words “other than a large goods vehicle or passenger-carrying vehicle driver’s licence as defined in section 110(2) of the Road Traffic Act 1988”; and
b
in regulation 9 (conditions attached to provisional licences), in paragraph (2)(a), by the omission of the words “or a test of competence to drive heavy goods vehicles under Part IV of the 1972 Act”.
