Coming into force
The Defence Council, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 2 of the Armed Forces Act 19661, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement1
These Regulations may be cited as the Royal Air Force Terms of Service (Amendment) Regulations 1990 and shall come into force on 1st January 1991.
Amendments to Regulations2

Regulation 5 of the Royal Air Force Terms of Service Regulations 19852 (engagement with right to transfer to the reserve on notice) shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this regulation.

In paragraph (1), for the words “17 years 6 months” there shall be substituted “16 years”.

In paragraph (2) —
a
for the words from “either (but not both)” to “to say: (a)” there shall be substituted “the right”;
b
the words from “or (b)” to “the relevant date,” shall be omitted; and
c
for the words “such rights” there shall be substituted “such right”.

For paragraph (3), there shall be substituted the following paragraph —

A person enlisted pursuant to this Regulation shall retain the right conferred thereby to transfer to the reserve notwithstanding that his term is extended under Regulation 14(1).
