1. The length of the Trunk Road described in the schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Surrey that the new trunk roads, which are to be constructed by the Secretary of State in pursuance of the London—Portsmouth Trunk Road (A3 Milford Bypass and Slip Roads) Order 1990, are open for through traffic.
2. In this Order—
(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the Trunk Road;
(i)(2) (i) “the deposited plan” | means the plan numbered RSE A3/6A/65/2/2 marked “The London—Portsmouth Trunk Road (A3 Milford De-Trunking) Order 1990” signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 3PY; |
(ii)“principal road” | as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; |
(iii)“the Trunk Road” | means the London—Portsmouth Trunk Road (A3). |
3. This Order shall come into force on 1st December 1990 and may be cited as the London—Portsmouth Trunk Road (A3 Milford De-Trunking) Order 1990.

The length of the Trunk Road ceasing to be a trunk road is between the Rodborough Hill Pumping Station, south of Milford, and a point 350 metres north of its junction with Chapel Lane.
