The Police Cadets (Amendment) Regulations 1990

Coming into force

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 35 of the Police Act 19641, and after taking into consideration the recommendations made by the Police Negotiating Board for the United Kingdom and furnishing the said Board with a draft of the Regulations in accordance with section 2(1) of the Police Negotiating Board Act 19802, I hereby make the following Regulations:

These Regulations may be cited as the Police Cadets (Amendment) Regulations 1990.

These Regulations shall come into force on 1st September 1990 and shall have effect for the purposes of regulation 3(a) and (b) as from 1st July 1989.

The Police Cadets Regulations 19793 shall be amended as follows:

a

in regulation 13(1)(a) for the words “1st July 1988” there shall be substituted the words “1st July 1989” and for the words “31st August 1988” there shall be substituted the words “31st August 1989”;

b

for the Table in Schedule 2 (scales of pay) there shall be substituted the following Table—

The annual rate of charge shall be—

a

in the case of a police cadet attached to the Metropolitan Police force, £558;

b

in any other case, £516.

These Regulations further amend the Police Cadets Regulations 1979. Regulation 3(a) and (b) increase the pay of cadets attached to the Metropolitan Police force from 1st July 1989 and again from 1st September 1989 and of cadets elsewhere from 1st September 1989 (retrospective effect is authorised by section 33(4), as applied by section 35(2), of the Police Act 1964). Regulation 3(c) increases charges payable by cadets for board and lodging provided by police authorities.
