The Social Security Act 1989 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1990

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides for the coming into force of

  • provisions in section 22 of and Schedule 4 to the Social Security Act 1989 (“the 1989 Act”) (recovery of sums equivalent to benefit from compensation payments in respect of accidents, injuries and diseases) in so far as relevant for the purpose of authorising the making of regulations, on 18th January 1990, and for other purposes on 2nd April, 9th July and 3rd September 1990;

  • provisions in section 25(1), (2) and (3) (establishment and functions of war pensions committees) in so far as relevant for the purposes of authorising the making of regulations, and section 22(4) on 1st March 1990, and for all other purposes on 1st January 1991.

  • provisions in Schedule 3 and associated repeals in Schedule 9 which relate to adjudication, and in Schedule 7, paragraph 17, which is a pre-consolidation amendment relating to the constitution of Medical Appeal Tribunals, in so far as relevant for the purpose of authorising the making of regulations, is 1st February 1990, and for other purposes is 6th April 1990.
