This Order may be cited as the Immigration (Guernsey) (Variation) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 18th May 1989.

The Immigration (Guernsey) Order 19723 shall be further varied in accordance with the provisions of the Schedule to this Order.
SCHEDULEVARIATIONS TO THE IMMIGRATION (GUERNSEY) ORDER 1972

After article 4 there shall be inserted the following article:

The provisions of the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987 shall extend to the Bailiwick of Guernsey with such exceptions, adaptations and modifications as are specified in the Schedule hereto.

The Schedule shall be varied in accordance with the following provisions of this paragraph.

In paragraph (1), after “that Act” there shall be inserted “or to the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987 or any provision thereof”.

In paragraph 2, there shall be added at the end the following provision:

In section 1(1) of the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987, for the reference to the Secretary of State there shall be substituted a reference to the States.

After paragraph 35 there shall be added the following provisions:
THE IMMIGRATION (CARRIERS' LIABILITY) ACT 1987
Section 136
In section 1 –
a
in subsection (3), for the words from “an order” to the end there shall be substituted “Ordinance of the States”, and
b
subsection (5) shall be omitted.
Section 237
In section 2 –
a
subsection (3) shall be omitted, and
b
in subsection (4), for “4th March 1987” there shall be substituted “the date of the extension of this Act to the Bailiwick of Guernsey”.
