The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 37(1) and 42 of the Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 1986( (1)) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and with the concurrence of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Advice and Assistance (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1989 and shall come into force on 10th April 1989.
(2) In these Regulations, “the principal Regulations” means the Advice and Assistance (Scotland) Regulations 1987( (2)).
2. In Rule 7(d) of Schedule 2 to the principal Regulations the figures of £200, £120 and £60 shall be substituted by the figures £335, £200 and £100, respectively.

These Regulations amend the Advice and Assistance (Scotland) Regulations 1987 by increasing the allowances for dependants in the assessment of disposable capital. The allowance for the first dependant is increased from £200 to £335, for the second from £120 to £200 and for every other dependant from £60 to £100.
