The Exempt Charities Order 1989

The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in pursuance of paragraph (c) of Schedule 2 to the Charities Act 1960(1), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the Exempt Charities Order 1989 and shall come into force on 1st January 1990.

2.  Goldsmiths' College, a college of the University of London, is hereby declared to be an exempt charity for the purposes of the Charities Act 1960.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order declares Goldsmiths' College to be an exempt charity within the meaning of the Charities Act 1960. An exempt charity is not required to be registered with the Charity Commissioners and the Commissioners cannot exercise any of their powers under the Act of 1960 in relation to an exempt charity except at the charity’s request.
