(c) Vertical– (i)At the front of a motor vehicle: | The horizontal plane tangential to the upper edge of the illuminated area of the lamp shall not be lower than the horizontal plane tangential to the upper edge of the transparent zone of the windscreen |
(ii)At the front of a trailer and at the rear of any vehicle: | At the maximum height compatible with:

3. Angles of visibility– (a) Horizontal: | 0° inwards and 80° outwards |
(b) Vertical: | 5° above and 20° below the horizontal |
4. Alignment: | Such that white light is shown towards the front and red light is shown towards the rear |

6. Size of illuminated area: | No requirement |
7. Colour: | White towards the front and red towards the rear |
8. Wattage: | No requirement |
9. Intensity: | No requirement |
10. Electrical connections: | No individual requirement |

12. Other requirements–
The two lamps which emit white light towards the front, and the two lamps which emit red light towards the rear, shall in each case form a matched pair.
The white front lamp and red rear lamp on one side of a vehicle may be combined into a single lamp with a single light source.
13. Definitions–
In this Schedule, “approval mark” means the aproval mark for a front or rear position lamp, as the case may be.
Any number may be fitted, and the only requirement prescribed by these Regulations in respect of any which are fitted is that specified in paragraph 7 of Part I.
