The Precept Limitation (Prescribed Maximum) (Inner London Education Authority) Order 1989

Coming into force

Whereas in a report laid before the House of Commons on 7th July 19881 the Inner London Education Authority was designated by the Secretary of State pursuant to section 2 of the Rates Act 19842 in relation to the financial year beginning on 1st April 1989;

And whereas the Secretary of State has served notice on that Authority pursuant to section 4(1) of that Act stating the maximum which he proposes to prescribe under section 1 of that Act for the precept issued by it for that year;

And whereas that Authority has not accepted the maximum proposed by the Secretary of State within the period specified in the notice or agreed with him on a different maximum;

And whereas the maximum prescribed by this Order is greater than the maximum so proposed;

And whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by resolution of the House of Commons pursuant to section 4(5) of that Act;

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1 and 4(4) of the Rates Act 1984 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Title and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Precept Limitation (Prescribed Maximum) (Inner London Education Authority) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 14th February 1989.

Prescription of maximum precept2

There is hereby prescribed under section 1 of the Rates Act 1984, for the financial year beginning on 1st April 1989, as the maximum precept for the Inner London Education Authority the amount of 78.42 pence in the pound.
