The Oxfordshire County Council (Oxford Canal, Bridge) Scheme 1987 Confirmation Instrument 1989

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Instrument in exercise of powers conferred by section 106 of the Highways Act 1980(1) and now vested in him(2) and of all other enabling powers:

1.  The Oxfordshire County Council (Oxford Canal Bridge) Scheme 1987 is hereby confirmed without modifications.

2.  The said Scheme as confirmed (hereinafter referred to as “the Scheme”) is set out in the Schedule hereto and copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plans are deposited at the offices of the Secretary of State for Transport; at the offices of the Oxfordshire County Council, County Hall, Oxford; at the offices of Cherwell District Council, Bodicote House, Bodicote, Banbury and at Banbury Library, Marlborough Road, Banbury.

3.  The Scheme will become operative on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.

4.  This Instrument may be cited as the Oxfordshire County Council (Oxford Canal, Bridge) Scheme 1987 Confirmation Instrument 1989.

THE SCHEDULETHE OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (OXFORD CANAL, BRIDGE) SCHEME 1987

The Oxfordshire County Council (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) make this Scheme in exercise of their powers under section 106 of the Highways Act 1980 and of all other enabling powers:–

1.  The Council are authorised to construct over the navigable waters of the Oxford Canal the bridge specified in the Schedule to this scheme as part of the highway which they are proposing to construct between Bridge Street (A361) and Hennef Way (A422) as part of the Banbury Inner Relief Road network in the parish of Banbury in the County of Oxfordshire.

2.  This Scheme may be cited as the Oxfordshire County Council (Oxford Canal, Bridge) Scheme 1987.

THE SCHEDULE TO THE SCHEMEPLANS and SPECIFICATIONS of BRIDGE OVER OXFORD CANAL at BANBURY

The site and general design of the bridge are shown on plan numbered B1124/B101 annexed hereto.

Points of Commencement and Termination

From a point 10 metres south of the south bank of the Oxford Canal. Map reference 445952 east, 240661 north.

to a point 3 metres north of the north bank of the Oxford Canal. Map reference 445960 east, 240683 north.

All on Ordnance Sheet SP 4540 NE.

(Being approximately 46 metres south east of the existing draw bridge connecting Mill Lane to Spiceball Centre car park).

Overall Dimensions

The bridge will be 16.9 metres wide overall and will carry a 10.0 metres carriageway with a footway 2.5 metres wide on the west side and a verge 2.5 metres wide on the east side. It will have an overall length of 25.0 metres.

Navigation Span

The navigation square span is 15 metres.

Headway

A minimum headway of 3.05 metres over a width of 9.6 metres.

Waterway

Waterway, minimum width 10.3 metres
