The Education (Grant-maintained Schools) (Publication of Proposals) Regulations 1989

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations contain provisions about the publication of proposals relating to grant-maintained schools.

Regulation 3 provides that any notice containing a summary of proposals for the acquisition of grant-maintained status made under section 62(2)(a) of the Education Reform Act 1988 (“the Act”) which is required to be published in a newspaper shall be so published within ten days of the publication of the proposals to which it relates.

Regulation 4 prescribes the manner of publication of proposals under sections 89(1) or 92(2) of the Act to make a significant change in the character, or a significant enlargement to the premises, of a grant-maintained school, or proposals to discontinue a grant-maintained school.
