Coming into force
The Secretary of State for the Environment, as respects England, and the Secretary of State for Wales, as respects Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by paragraph 26 of Schedule 26 to the Water Act 19891, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:
Citation and commencement1
This Order may be cited as the Rivers (Prevention of Pollution) Act 1951 (Continuation of Byelaws) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 1st September 1989.
Continuation of byelaws2
The byelaws specified in the Schedule to this Order, being byelaws made by virtue of section 5(1)(c) of the Rivers (Prevention of Pollution) Act 19512 (keeping on streams and other waters of vessels provided with sanitary appliances) shall, insofar as they are in force immediately before the transfer date, have effect on and after that date as if made by the National Rivers Authority under section 114 of the Water Act 1989 (byelaws for preventing pollution of controlled waters).
