Coming into force

The Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 77 of the Local Government Act 19851, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:—

This Order may be cited as the Local Government Reorganisation (Capital Money) (Greater London) (Amendment) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 12th January 1989.

The Local Government Reorganisation (Capital Money) (Greater London) Order 19882 is amended by the substitution of the words“£70 millions” for the words“£20 millions”—

a

in the definition of“A” in paragraph 3 of Schedule 1; and

b

in the definition of“R” in paragraph 2 of Schedule 3.

This Order amends the Local Government Reorganisation (Capital Money) (Greater London) Order 1988. The effect of the amendments is to require the London Residuary Body to deduct an additional £50 millions from the amounts, both notional and actual, that they would otherwise be required to distribute to the rating authorities in London in respect of the financial year ending 31st March 1989.
