Coming into force

Whereas on 28th September 1988 I was notified of the vacancy of the seat of the representative in the European Parliament for the constituency of Hampshire Central by that Parliament under Article 12(2) of the Act concerning the election of the representatives of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage annexed to the decision of the Council of the European Communities dated 20th September 19761;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by paragraph 3(3) of Schedule 1 to the European Parliamentary Elections Act 19782, I hereby make the following Order:—

This Order may be cited as the European Parliamentary Elections (Day of By-election) (Hampshire Central Constituency) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st November 1988.

The by-election to fill the vacancy in the European Parliamentary constituency of Hampshire Central shall be held on 15th December 1988.
