In exercise of the power conferred upon me by section 99(2)(k) of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984(1), and after furnishing a draft thereof to the Police Advisory Board for England and Wales and taking into consideration the representations made by the said Board in accordance with section 100(2) of the said Act of 1984, I hereby make the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Police (Complaints) (General) (Amendment) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 14th November 1988.
2. Regulation 13(2)(b) of the Police (Complaints) (General) Regulations 1985(2) shall be amended by substituting for the words “or deputy assistant commissioner” the words “, a deputy assistant commissioner or a commander”.

These Regulations amend the Police (Complaints) (General) Regulations 1985 to enable the Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis to delegate certain functions and duties in relation to police complaints under Part IX of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 to an officer of the rank of commander as well as to an assistant commissioner or a deputy assistant commissioner.
