The Family Income Supplements (General) Amendment Regulations 1987

The Secretary of State for Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 6(3) of the Family Income Supplements Act 19701 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, after agreement by the Social Security Advisory Committee that the proposals to make these regulations should not be referred to it2, hereby makes the following regulations:—

Citation and commencement1.

These regulations may be cited as the Family Income Supplements (General) Amendment Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 24th March 1987.

Insertion of new regulation 3A in the Family Income Supplements (General) Regulations 19802.

After regulation 3 of the Family Income Supplements (General) Regulations 19803 there shall be inserted the following regulation:—

“Termination of awards3A.

Notwithstanding any provision in the Act or these regulations, where a claim is made on or after 24th March 1987 the period for which benefit is payable on the claim shall expire on a date not later than 11th April 1988.”.

These regulations insert a new regulation 3A in the Family Income Supplements (General) Regulations 1980 which makes provision for awards of family income supplements to terminate not later than 11th April 1988, the day of the coming into operation of the new Family Credit legislation.
