The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 20 of and paragraph 5 of Schedule 2 to the Legal Aid Act 1974(1), hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Aid Act 1974 (Deduction from Taxed Costs) Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 1st January 1988.
2. Paragraphs 1(1) and 2(1) of Schedule 2 to the Legal Aid Act 1974(1) shall be amended by substituting, for the percentages “90 per cent”, the percentages “95 per cent”

These Regulations reduce from 10 per cent to 5 per cent the deduction which, by virtue of paragraphs 1(1) and 2(1) of Schedule 2 to the Legal Aid Act 1974, is to be made from the remuneration of persons giving legal aid under Part I of that Act in connection with proceedings in the House of Lords, the Court of Appeal and the High Court.
1974 c. 4; section 20 was amended by the Legal Aid Act 1979 (c. 26), section 4(2) and by the Civil Jurisdiction and Judgments Act 1982 (c. 27), section 40(1).
