Whereas in pursuance of section 3(3) of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 19861 the Boundary Commission for Wales have submitted to the Secretary of State a report dated 8th May 1987 with respect to the areas comprised in certain constituencies in Wales and showing the constituencies into which they recommend, in accordance with the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, that the areas should be divided:
And Whereas the Secretary of State has laid that report before Parliament together with the draft of this Order in Council to give effect to the recommendations contained in the report and each House of Parliament has by resolution approved the said draft:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 4 of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
Citation, interpretation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Parliamentary Constituencies (Wales) (Miscellaneous Changes) Order 1987.

In this Order “the 1983 Order” means the Parliamentary Constituencies (Wales) Order 19832.

Subject to section 4(6) of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, this Order shall come into force forthwith.
Aberavon, Gower, Neath, Swansea East and Swansea West2
For the county constituencies of Aberavon, Gower and Neath and the borough constituencies of Swansea East and Swansea West as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part I of the Schedule to this Order, and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 8th May 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Neath (Communities) Order 19823, the Borough of Neath (Electoral Arrangements) Order 19834, the Swansea (Communities) Order 19835, the City of Swansea (Electoral Arrangements) Order 19836, the Brecknock (Communities) Order 19857, the Lliw Valley (Communities) Order 19858 and the Lliw Valley (Electoral Arrangements) Order 19869).
Blaenau Gwent, Monmouth, Newport East, Newport West and Torfaen3
For the county constituencies of Blaenau Gwent, Monmouth, Newport East, Newport West and Torfaen as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part II of the Schedule to this Order and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 8th May 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Newport (Communities) Order 198310, the Borough of Newport (Electoral Arrangements) Order 198311, the Rhymney Valley (Communities) Order 1984)12, the Blaenau Gwent (Communities) Order 198413, the Torfaen (Communities) Order 198514, the Brecknock (Communities) Order 198515, the Borough of Blaenau Gwent (Electoral Arrangements) Order 198616, the District of Monmouth (Electoral Arrangements) Order 198617 and the Borough of Torfaen (Electoral Arrangements) Order 198618).
Brecon and Radnor4
For the county constituency of Brecon and Radnor as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituency which is named on the left-hand side of Part III of the Schedule to this Order and comprises the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 8th May 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Neath (Communities) Order 198219, the Radnor (Communities) Order 198220, the Merthyr Tydfil (Communities) Order 198321, the Rhymney Valley (Communities) Order 198422, the Blaenau Gwent (Communities) Order 198423 and the Brecknock (Communities) Order 198524).
Bridgend, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney, Ogmore, Pontypridd and Rhondda5
For the county constituencies of Bridgend, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney, Ogmore, Pontypridd and Rhondda as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part IV of the Schedule to this Order and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 8th May 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Merthyr Tydfil (Communities) Order 198325, the Newport (Communities) Order 198326, the Rhondda (Communities) Order 198327, the Taff-Ely (Communities) Order 198428, the Rhymney Valley (Communities) Order 198429, the Borough of Taff-Ely (Electoral Arrangements) Order 198530, the Borough of Ogwr (Electoral Arrangements) Order 198531 and the District of Rhymney Valley (Electoral Arrangements) Order 198532).
Carmarthen, Ceredigion and Pembroke North, Llanelli and Pembroke6
For the county constituencies of Carmarthen, Ceredigion and Pembroke North, Llanelli and Pembroke as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part V of the Schedule to this Order and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they would have existed on 8th May 1987 if the Borough of Dinefwr (Electoral Arrangements) Order 198733 and the District of Preseli (Electoral Arrangements) Order 198734 had not come into force (and accordingly as altered by the Radnor (Communities) Order 198235, the Swansea (Communities) Order 198336, the Brecknock (Communities) Order 198537, the Lliw Valley (Communities) Order 198538, the South Pembrokeshire (Communities) Order 198539 and the Llanelli (Communities) Order 198540).
Register of electors7
Each electoral registration officer for the constituencies referred to in Articles 2 to 6 above shall make such re-arrangement or adaptation of the registers of parliamentary electors as may be necessary to give effect to this Order.
