Coming into force
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 17(2) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 (1); to give effect to proposals made by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland under section 14(2) of that Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
Title and commencement1
This Order may be cited as the Kyle and Carrick District and Cumnock and Doon Valley District (Loch Doon and Craigengillan Estate, Dalmellington) Boundaries Amendment Order 1987, and shall come into force on 1st April 1988.
Interpretation2
In this Order—
“the 1977 Regulations” means the Local Government Area Changes (Scotland) Regulations 1977(2); and
“boundary maps” means the 5 maps prepared by the Scottish Office, marked “Maps of the Kyle and Carrick District and Cumnock and Doon Valley District (Loch Doon and Craigengillan Estate, Dalmellington) Boundaries Amendment Order 1987”, duly numbered for reference and deposited in accordance with regulation 3 of the 1977 Regulations; and in the Schedule to this Order any reference to a boundary of a district is a reference to a boundary existing immediately before the commencement of this Order.
Application of Regulations3
The 1977 Regulations shall apply for the purposes of this Order to such extent as may be required to implement the area change effected by article 4 of this Order.
Area Change4
Part of Kyle and Carrick District containing Loch Doon and Craigengillan Estate, near Dalmellington, being the area described in the Schedule to this Order and shown delineated and hatched on the boundary maps, shall be transferred to Cumnock and Doon Valley District.
Consequential changes of electoral arrangements5
The area described in the Schedule to this Order (being the area transferred by article 4 of this Order)—

shall form part of electoral division 103 (New Cumnock and Doon Valley) of Strathclyde Region and of ward 7 (Dalmellington) of Cumnock and Doon Valley District(5).
