The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 247 of the Local Government Act 1972(1), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Armorial Bearings) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 1st March 1987.
2. Subject to article 4 of this Order, the town council of Longridge may bear and use the armorial bearings which were immediately before 1st April 1974 borne and used by Longridge urban district council.
3. Subject to article 4 of this Order, the town council of Yeovil may bear and use the armorial bearings which were immediately before 1st April 1974 borne and used by Yeovil borough council.
4. Armorial bearings shall not be borne or used pursuant to article 2 or 3 hereto until they have been exemplified according to the laws of arms and recorded in the College of Arms.

This Order authorises Longridge town council to bear and use the armorial bearings of the former Longridge urban district council and Yeovil town council to bear and use those of the former borough council of Yeovil.
