In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 26(1) and (2) of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1987(1), I hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1987 (Commencement No.1) Order 1987.
2. The provisions of Part III of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1987 specified in Part I of the Schedule to this Order shall come into force on 1st August 1987; and the provisions of that Part of that Act specified in Part II of the Schedule shall come into force on 1st January 1988.

This Order brings into force Part III of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1987, which contains provisions concerning the regulation of the provision of security services. Those provisions which relate to certificates granted by the Secretary of State are brought into force on 1st August 1987; and those provisions which create offences of providing security services without a licence and making payments for security services to a person who is neither the holder, nor acting on behalf of the holder, of a certificate are brought into force on 1st January 1988.
