Coming into Operation
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 11(4) and (8) of the Clean Air Act 1956 and now vested in him1, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, being satisfied that fireplaces of the classes described in the Schedule hereto can be used for burning fuel other than authorised fuels without producing any smoke or a substantial quantity of smoke, hereby makes the following order:—

This order may be cited as the Smoke Control Areas (Exempted Fireplaces) (Amendment) Order 1985 and shall come into operation on 9th July 1985.

This order shall extend to England and Wales.
Amendment of the Smoke Control Areas (Exempted Fireplaces) Order 19842
The Schedule to the Smoke Control Areas (Exempted Fireplaces) Order 1984 shall be amended:—
a
by substituting “List No. 1048/June '83 8402”
for “List No. 1084/June '83 8402”
, and
b
by adding the classes of fireplace and the manufacturers' instructions mentioned in the Schedule hereto.
