EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order amends Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, which specifies the drugs which are subject to control under the Act. It adds Alfentanil, Eticyclidine, Rolicyclidine and Tenocyclidine to Part I of that Schedule (which specifies Class A drugs); it adds certain barbiturates (that is to say, 5,5 disubstituted barbituric acids and Methylphenobarbitone), and also Mecloqualone, to Part II (which specifies Class B drugs); it transfers Methaqualone from Part III (which specifies Class C drugs) to Part II; and it adds Diethylpropion to Part III.
