On 1st November 1983 it brings into operation paragraph 6(2) of Schedule 1 to that Act which makes provision for the quorum of the Central Council. 1982 No. 963 (C.28) NURSES, MIDWIVES AND HEALTH VISITORS The Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979 (Commencement <Abbreviation Expansion="Number">No.</Abbreviation> 2) Order 1982 Made 13th July 1982 In exercise of the power conferred upon me by section 24(2) of the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979 I hereby make the following order:— Citation and interpretation 1 1 This order may be cited as the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1982. 2 In this order “the Act” means the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979. Appointed days 2 1 The day appointed for the coming into operation of Schedule 2 to the Act (in so far as it is not already in force) shall be 15th September 1983. 2 The day appointed for the coming into operation of paragraph 6(2) of Schedule 1 to the Act shall be 1st November 1983. NOTE AS TO EARLIER COMMENCEMENT ORDER

The provisions of the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979 for constituting the National Boards and the Central Council together with their respective Finance Committees and other provisions of the Act dealing with general and financial matters have been brought into operation by S.I. 1980/893 made before the date of this Order.
