The Social Security (Unemployment, Sickness and Invalidity Benefit and Credits) Amendment Regulations 1982 No. 96

Amendment of regulation 1 of the principal regulations

2.  In regulation 1 of the principal regulations (citation, commencement and interpretation) for paragraph (2) there is substituted:—

“(2) In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires—

“the Act” means the Social Security Act 1975;

“charity” has the meaning assigned to it in the Income Tax Acts;

“health authority” has the same meaning as in the National Health Service Act 1977(1) ;

“health board” means a health board constituted under section 2 and in accordance with Schedule 1 to the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978;

“local authority” has the same meaning, for England and Wales, as in section 270(1) of the Local Government Act 1972 and, for Scotland, as in section 235(1) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973;

“preserved board” has the same meaning as in the National Health Service Reorganisation Act 1973(2) ;

“unemployment benefit office” means any office or place appointed by the Secretary of State for the purpose of claiming unemployment benefit.”.
