Citation, commencement and interpretation1

These regulations may be cited as the Statutory Sick Pay (Mariners, Airmen and Persons Abroad) Regulations 1982, and shall come into operation on 6th April 1983.

In these regulations—
“the Act” means the Social Security and Housing Benefits Act 1982;
F1“the Contributions and Benefits Act” means the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992;
“the Contributions Regulations” means the Social Security (Contributions) Regulations 1979;
“Part I” means Part I of the Act;
“the General Regulations” means the Statutory Sick Pay (General) Regulations 1982;
and other expressions, unless the context otherwise requires, have the same meanings as in Part I.

Unless the context otherwise requires, any reference—
a
in these regulations to a numbered regulation is a reference to the regulation bearing that number in these regulations; and
b
in any of these regulations to a numbered paragraph is a reference to the paragraph bearing that number in that regulation.
