The Immigration (Registration With Police) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 1982
In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 4(3) of the Immigration Act 1971, I hereby make the following Regulations:—
1.
These Regulations may be cited as the Immigration (Registration with Police) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 1982 and shall come into operation on 1st January 1983.
2.
In Regulation 2(1) of the Immigration (Registration with Police) Regulations 19721, in the definition of “alien”
for the words “British Nationality Act 1948”
there shall be substituted the words “ British Nationality Act 1981”
.
Regulation 2(1) of the Immigration (Registration with Police) Regulations 1972 defines “alien” for the purposes of the Regulations as having the same meaning as in the British Nationality Act 1948 (c.56). The definition of “alien”
in section 32(1) of that Act is repealed by the British Nationality Act 1981 which comes into force on 1st January 1983 (S.I. 1982/933). These Regulations amend the definition of “alien”
in Regulation 2(1) so as to give it the same meaning there as it has in the Act of 1981 (which defines it in section 50(1)).
