The Social Security Act 1981 Commencement Order 1981

The Secretary of State for Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 8(3) of the Social Security Act 1981, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:—

Citation1

This order may be cited as the Social Security Act 1981 Commencement Order 1981.

Appointed day2

The appointed day for the purposes of the provisions of sections 2 to 7 and 8(4) and (5) of, and Schedules 1 and 2 to, the Social Security Act 1981 (the provisions of that Act which did not come into operation on its passing on 2nd July 1981) is 10th August 1981.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into operation with effect from 10th August 1981 those provisions of the Social Security Act 1981 which did not come into operation on the passing of that Act (ie on 2nd July 1981).
