1. At the beginning of rule 20(1) and of rule 20(4) there shall be inserted the words “Subject to the provisions of rule 20A,” and after rule 20 there shall be inserted—
Election and Choice of Members in 1982
20A.—(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of rule 20(1) and 20(4) (parochial representatives of the laity elected to the deanery synod and persons chosen as mentioned in rule 19(2)(e) or 19(3)(c) shall hold office for a term of three years) those persons elected or chosen in the year 1982 shall hold office for a term of two years only and their successors shall be elected or chosen in the year 1984 and shall hold office for a term of three years.
(2) Any provision in these rules referring to election or choice of representatives to the deanery synod in every third year or referring to a three year term of office shall be construed as an election or choice in the second year or as a two year term of office in respect of those persons elected or chosen in the year 1982.”
