The Social Security Act 1980 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1981

The Secretary of State for Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 21(5) of the Social Security Act 1980, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:—

Citation1

This order may be cited as the Social Security Act 1980 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1981.

Appointed day2

The day appointed for the coming into force of the provisions of the Social Security Act 1980 specified in the Schedule to this Order shall be 23rd November 1981.

SCHEDULE

Provision of the Act

Subject Matter

In Part I of Schedule 1, paragraph 3.

Cessation of increases of benefit for prescribed relatives and a transitional provision concerning this.

In Part II of Schedule 5, the entries relating to sections 44(3)(b) and (6), 47 (to the extent not already in force), and 66(1)(c) and (8) of the Social Security Act 1975.

Repeal of enactments.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This order brings into force on 23rd November 1981 provisions of the Social Security Act 1980 terminating the right to increases of benefits under the Social Security Act 1975 in respect of prescribed relatives and making transitional provision for those who were entitled to such increases immediately before that date.

NOTE AS TO EARLIER COMMENCEMENT ORDERS

The following provisions of the Social Security Act 1980 have been brought into force by commencement order made before the date of this Order.
