In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 66(6) of the Criminal Justice Act 1972, I hereby make the following Order:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice Act 1972 (Commencement No. 5) Order 1976.
2. Section 34 of the Criminal Justice Act 1972 shall come into force on 1st April 1976.

This Order brings into force on 1st April 1976 section 34 of the Criminal Justice Act 1972 which enables a constable who has power to arrest a person for various drunkenness offences to take him to any place approved for the purposes of the section by the Secretary of State as a medical treatment centre for alcoholics.
