Her Majesty, in pursuance of the powers vested in Her by section 4 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1894 and all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to declare as follows:—

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Registrar of British Ships in Seychelles) Order 1968 and shall come into operation on 23rd October 1968.

Interpretation2

The Interpretation Act 1889shall apply, with the necessary adaptations, for the purpose of interpreting this Order and otherwise in relation thereto as it applies for the purpose of interpreting, and in relation to, Acts of Parliament.

Registrar of British ships in Seychelles3

The Registrar of British ships in Seychelles shall be the person for the time being performing the functions of Port Officer, Seychelles, or, if there is no person performing such functions, or if the person performing such functions is absent from Seychelles or is for any reason unable to discharge the functions of his office, the person for the time being performing the functions of Collector of Customs, Seychelles.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order provides that the Registrar of British ships in Seychelles shall be the Port Officer, Seychelles, or if there is no such officer or if such officer is absent or unable to act, the Collector of Customs, Seychelles.
