Her Majesty, in pursuance of sections 3(8) and 6(3) of the Science and Technology Act 1965, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Science and Technology Act 1965 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1965.
2. The 1st June 1965 is hereby appointed as the day upon which the following provisions of the Science and Technology Act 1965 shall come into force:
(i)subsections (3) and (4) of section 3 (for all purposes);
(ii)subsection (5) of section 3 so far as is necessary for giving effect to the provisions in Schedule 2 for the amendment of Acts of Parliament other than the Income Tax Act 1952.
3. The 1st June 1965 is also hereby appointed as the day upon which all the repeals provided for by subsection (3) of section 6 of and Schedule 4 to the Science and Technology Act 1965, except the repeal of section 2 of the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1959, are to take effect.

This Order brings into force the remaining provisions of section 3 of the Science and Technology Act 1965 and appoints 1st June 1965 as the day upon which the activities of the Nature Conservancy and the National Oceanographic Council are taken over by the Natural Environment Research Council and on which the repeal of certain enactments takes effect. It also brings into force certain consequential provisions of the Act.
