The Diseases of Animals (Extension of Definition of Poultry) Order, 1953

The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in him by Sections 84 and 85 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1950, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby orders as follows:—

This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals (Extension of Definition of Poultry) Order, 1953.

The Interpretation Act, 1889, shall apply to the interpretation of this Order as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

For the purposes of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1950, the definition of the expression “poultry” contained in subsection (2) of Section 84 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1950, is hereby extended so as to include:—
a
birds of the species Psittaciformes, including any of the birds commonly called parrots, parrakeets, budgerigars, lovebirds, macaws, cockatoos, cockatiels, conures, caiques, lories and lorikeets;
b
doves, peafowl and swans.
