parenting duty: collaborative working</heading><subsection eId="section-25-1"><num>(1)</num><content><p>Relevant authorities and local authorities in England must, so far as reasonably practicable, collaborate with each other when performing their corporate parenting duty where they consider that doing so would safeguard or promote the wellbeing of looked-after children or relevant young people.</p></content></subsection><subsection eId="section-25-2"><num>(2)</num><intro><p>In <ref href="#section-25-1">subsection (1)</ref>, “<term refersTo="#term-corporate-parenting-duty" eId="term-corporate-parenting-duty">corporate parenting duty</term>” means—</p></intro><level class="para1" eId="section-25-2-a"><num>(a)</num><content><p>in the case of a relevant authority, the duty under <ref href="#">section 23</ref><ref href="#">(1)</ref>;</p></content></level><level class="para1" eId="section-25-2-b"><num>(b)</num><content><p>in the case of a local authority in England, the duty under <ref eId="c00265" href="https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2017/16/section/1">section 1</ref><ref eId="c00266" href="https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2017/16/section/1">(1)</ref> of the <ref eId="c00267" href="https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2017/16/contents">Children and Social Work Act 2017</ref>.</p></content></level></subsection><subsection eId="section-25-3"><num>(3)</num><intro><p>Collaboration under <ref href="#section-25-1">subsection (1)</ref> may in particular include—</p></intro><level class="para1" eId="section-25-3-a"><num>(a)</num><content><p>sharing information;</p></content></level><level class="para1" eId="section-25-3-b"><num>(b)</num><content><p>providing advice or assistance;</p></content></level><level class="para1" eId="section-25-3-c"><num>(c)</num><content><p>co-ordinating activities (and seeking to prevent unnecessary duplication).</p></content></level></subsection><subsection eId="section-25-4"><num>(4)</num><content><p>Subsection <ref href="#section-25-1">(1)</ref> is not to be read as requiring or authorising a disclosure of information which is prohibited by any of <ref eId="c00268" href="https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2016/25/part/1">Parts 1 to 7</ref> or <ref eId="c00269" href="https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2016/25/part/9/chapter/1">Chapter 1</ref> of <ref eId="c00270" href="https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2016/25/part/9">Part 9</ref> of the <ref eId="c00271" href="https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2016/25/contents">Investigatory Powers Act 2016</ref>.</p></content></subsection><subsection eId="section-25-5"><num>(5)</num><intro><p>In <ref href="#section-25">this section</ref>—</p></intro><hcontainer name="definition"><content><p>“<term refersTo="#term-local-authority-in-england" eId="term-local-authority-in-england">local authority in England</term>” has the same meaning as in <ref eId="c00272" href="https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2017/16/section/1">section 1</ref> of the <ref eId="c00273" href="https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2017/16/contents">Children and Social Work Act 2017</ref>;</p></content></hcontainer><hcontainer name="definition"><content><p>“<term refersTo="#term-relevant-authority" eId="term-relevant-authority">relevant authority</term>”, “<term refersTo="#term-looked-after-children" eId="term-looked-after-children">looked-after children</term>” and “<term refersTo="#term-relevant-young-people" eId="term-relevant-young-people">relevant young people</term>” have the same meaning as in <ref href="#">section
