http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2026/2/section/5Sentencing Act 2026enStatute Law Database2026-03-31Expert Participation2026-03-31 Part 1 5 1 Section 5 of the Sentencing Code (making a deferment order) is amended as follows. 2 In subsection (2), for the words from “more than” to the end of the subsection substitute — a more than 6 months after the date on which the order is made, if the offender was convicted of the offence, or any of the offences, before the relevant date, or b more than 12 months after the date on which the order is made, if the offender was convicted of the offence, or all of the offences, on or after the relevant date. 3 After that subsection insert— 2A In subsection (2) “the relevant date” means the date on which section 5 of the Sentencing Act 2026 came into force.
