In rule 23 (appointment of presiding officers and clerks), in paragraph (3), for the words from “except” to the end substitute
except—
a
order the arrest of any person or the exclusion or removal of any person from the polling station,
b
refuse to deliver a ballot paper under rule 32(3) or paragraph (4) of rule 34 (including that paragraph as applied by rule 35, 36 or 37), or
c
resolve doubts over identity as mentioned in paragraph (5A) of rule 34 (including that paragraph as applied by rule 35, 36 or 37).
