Magistrates' court

123Limit on fines imposed by magistrates' courts in respect of young offenders

(1)

This section applies where an offender—

(a)

was convicted by a magistrates' court,

(b)

was under 18 when convicted, and

(c)

is before that court to be sentenced.

(2)

The court may not impose a fine of more than—

(a)

£250, if the offender was under 14 when convicted, or

(b)

£1,000, if the offender was 14 or over when convicted.
