Trade Union Act 2016

Compatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights

  1. Section 19 of the Human Rights Act requires a Minister in charge of a Bill in either House of Parliament to make a statement about the compatibility of the Bill with the Convention Rights (as defined by section 1 of that Act). The Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and Minister for Intellectual Property, Baroness Neville-Rolfe, has made the following statement: "In my view, the provisions of the Trade Union Bill are compatible with the Convention rights."
  2. The Government has published a separate memorandum on ECHR issues with an assessment of compatibility of the Bill's provisions with the Convention rights. This memorandum is available on the Government website.
