66Schools: reduction of burdens

Section 19 of the Education Act 1997 (which confers power on the Secretary of State and Welsh Ministers to make regulations requiring governing bodies of maintained schools to set school performance targets) ceases to have effect in relation to schools in England.

Accordingly, in subsection (1) of that section—

a

for “The Secretary of State” substitute “ The Welsh Ministers ”;

b

for “the Secretary of State considers” substitute “ the Welsh Ministers consider ”;

c

after “maintained schools” insert “ in Wales ”.

Omit section 102 of the Education Act 2005 (which confers power on the Secretary of State to make regulations requiring local authorities in England to set annual targets in respect of educational performance at schools maintained by them etc).

In consequence of subsection (3), omit section 122(3)(c) of that Act of 2005.
