Educational achievement of looked after children
99Promotion of educational achievement of children looked after by local authorities
In the Children Act 1989, in section 22 after subsection (3A) (duty of local authorities to promote the educational achievement of looked after children) insert—
3B
A local authority in England must appoint at least one person for the purpose of discharging the duty imposed by virtue of subsection (3A).
3C
A person appointed by a local authority under subsection (3B) must be an officer employed by that authority or another local authority in England.
