Schedule 10 (given effect to by section 34) contains amendments to sections of the Local Government Act 1999. Under that Act, the Secretary of State can direct the Audit Commission to carry out an inspection of a specified authority’s compliance with its best value duties. This Schedule amends the 1999 Act to give the Secretary of State a similar power to appoint a person to carry out such an inspection, following the abolition of the Audit Commission.
