47.Part 5 of the Act introduces a new document, a strategy and policy statement, which will set out the Government’s strategic priorities for the energy sector in Great Britain, describe the roles and responsibilities of various players who implement, or are affected by, GB energy policy and describe policy outcomes which are to be achieved by the Authority and the Secretary of State when regulating the sector. The strategy and policy statement will replace existing guidance for the Authority on social and environmental matters. These provisions implement the recommendations of the Government’s review of the Authority published in July 2011.
