after the definition of “applicant” insert—

““central counterparty clearing services” has the same meaning as in section 155 of the Companies Act 1989 (see subsection (3A) of that section);”, and

at the end insert—

““UK clearing house” means a clearing house—

(a)

which has its head office or its registered office (or both) in the United Kingdom,

(b)

which provides central counterparty clearing services, and

(c)

in relation to which a recognition order is in force.”
