Gambling Act 2005

Commencement

880.The provisions of the Act (other than sections 358 to 362 which deal with commencement, territorial limitations, extent etc.) will be brought into force on dates appointed by the Secretary of State by commencement order. It has been the Government’s intention to commence Part 2, which will provide for the establishment of the Gambling Commission, by October 2005. Schedule 16 includes amendments to the Gaming Act 1968 which will have effect until replaced by the relevant provisions of the Act. The intention has been also to bring these amendments into force at that time. Other provisions of the Act will be brought into force in stages after that with the intention that the Act should be fully in force by September 2007.
