Communications Act 2003

An Act to confer functions on the Office of Communications; to make provision about the regulation of the provision of electronic communications networks and services and of the use of the electro-magnetic spectrum; to make provision about the regulation of broadcasting and of the provision of television and radio services; to make provision about mergers involving newspaper and other media enterprises and, in that connection, to amend the Enterprise Act 2002; and for connected purposes.

Section 93 of that Act (broadcasting of local items during election period) shall be amended as follows.

In subsection (4), for the words from the beginning to “each” there shall be substituted “ The Office of Communications shall ”.

In subsection (6)—

a

in the definition of “broadcasting authority”, for “the Independent Television Commission, the Radio Authority” there shall be substituted “ the Office of Communications ”;

b

in the definition of “relevant services”, for paragraphs (b) and (c) there shall be substituted—

in relation to the Office of Communications, means services licensed under Part 1 or 3 of the Broadcasting Act 1990 or Part 1 or 2 of the Broadcasting Act 1996.
