Communications Act 2003

An Act to confer functions on the Office of Communications; to make provision about the regulation of the provision of electronic communications networks and services and of the use of the electro-magnetic spectrum; to make provision about the regulation of broadcasting and of the provision of television and radio services; to make provision about mergers involving newspaper and other media enterprises and, in that connection, to amend the Enterprise Act 2002; and for connected purposes.

SCHEDULE 12Corresponding obligations of the BBC and Welsh Authority

Part 1The BBC

Duty to publicise complaints procedures etc.

It shall be the duty of the BBC to make arrangements for securing that the matters mentioned in sub-paragraph (2) are brought to the attention of the public (whether by means of broadcasts or otherwise).

Those matters are—

a

OFCOM’s functions under Part 5 of the 1996 Act in relation to services provided by the BBC; and

b

any procedures established by OFCOM or the BBC for the handling and resolution of complaints about the observance by the BBC of standards set under section 319 F1or about compliance by the BBC with the requirements imposed by section 368DF2and section 368E(4).
