12 Role of Lord Chief Justice

The Lord Chief Justice is president of—

a

the Court of Appeal,

b

the High Court,

c

the Crown Court,

d

the county courts, and

e

the magistrates’ courts,

and head of the judges and magistrates who sit in them.

Schedule 5 transfers to the Lord Chief Justice certain functions of the Lord Chancellor in relation to the operation of the courts.

The Lord Chancellor may by order make amendments in any enactment or instrument (whenever passed or made) for, or in connection with, the transfer of other functions of his to the Lord Chief Justice.
