IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/2001/16/section/2/2" id="section-2-2"><Pnumber>2</Pnumber><P2para><Text>Unless the notice is given in a police station, the constable giving it must be in uniform.</Text></P2para></P2><P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2001/16/section/2/3/2011-01-21" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/2001/16/section/2/3" id="section-2-3"><Pnumber>3</Pnumber><P2para><Text>At a police station, a penalty notice may be given only by an authorised constable.</Text></P2para></P2><P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2001/16/section/2/4/2011-01-21" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/2001/16/section/2/4" id="section-2-4"><Pnumber>4</Pnumber><P2para><Text>In this Chapter “<Term id="term-penalty-notice">penalty notice</Term>” means a notice offering the opportunity, by paying a penalty in accordance with this Chapter, to discharge any liability to be convicted of the offence to which the notice relates.</Text></P2para></P2><P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2001/16/section/2/5/2011-01-21" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/2001/16/section/2/5" id="section-2-5"><Pnumber>5</Pnumber><P2para><Text>“<Term id="term-authorised-constable">Authorised constable</Term>” means a constable authorised, on behalf of the chief officer of police for the area in which the police station is situated, to give penalty notices.</Text></P2para></P2><P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2001/16/section/2/6/2011-01-21" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/2001/16/section/2/6" id="section-2-6"><Pnumber><Addition ChangeId="d29p329" CommentaryRef="c19313111">6</Addition></Pnumber><P2para><Text><Addition ChangeId="d29p329" CommentaryRef="c19313111">amend subsection (1) by substituting for the age for the time being specified in that subsection a different age which is not lower than 10, CommentaryRef="c19313111">ii</Addition></Pnumber><P4para><Text><Addition ChangeId="d29p329" CommentaryRef="c19313111">for that parent or guardian to be liable to pay the penalty under the
